STCC Nursing Program

STCC's Nursing Program Information Sessions
for Prospective Nursing Program Applicants

Due to the high volume of applications to our Nursing Major and the demand for information regarding gaining admission to the program, the College has scheduled informative Nursing Admission Info-Sessions. All students interested in Nursing are STRONGLY encouraged to attend one of these sessions. The sessions are for everybody – first time college students, transfer students, as well as current STCC students in other majors who wish to change their major to Nursing.

Information sessions are held in Building 20 throughout the year for any potential students wishing to learn more about or apply to the Nursing Program at STCC. These information sessions are open to all so no pre-registration is required.

Please note, Admissions staff will not be meeting with students on an individual basis for Nursing unless they have extreme circumstances that will not allow them to attend an info-session.

Minimum Prerequisites for Nursing Program

  • Algebra 2 with a C+ grade or higher or completion of a college level math (100 level course or above) with a C+ grade or higher

  • No more than one repeated college science course within the past seven years

  • All Anatomy & Physiology courses over seven years old must be repeated

  • All college level coursework required within the Nursing curriculum with an earned grade of C+ or better

  • Math for Nursing Course Description (web-based)  Please note that enrollment for this course closes in early-mid January and course access ends at the end of January.

  • HESI admissions assessment test with a minimum cumulative score of 77 or higher and all language related sections with a minimum score of 77 or higher.  (See Below)

Health Education Systems Incorporated (HESI) provides standardized exams on a variety of topics which have been deemed critical for incoming STCC's Nursing Program Candidates being successful Nursing Program Students.

  • To help prepare for the HESI exam, Candidates may purchase optional study materials directly from the HESI Website.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
All HESI exams for 2011 admission to the Nursing Program must be completed before Spring 2011. Dates for the exam will be limited and new dates will be added to the schedule based on demand. It is recommended that students plan their testing schedule to allow adequate time to include a re-take of the exam if necessary.

Required for HESI Exam
  • You must pre-register for the exam (See instructions below)

  • Candidates should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of the exam for check-in

  • Directions to HESI Testing Center in CBT High Stakes Testing Center - (Building 2, Room 303 Main Campus)

  • You must present a valid, government issued Picture ID at check-in

HESI Exam Requirements

To be considered for admission into the STCC Nursing Program, applicants must take and
pass the HESI Exam with:

  • A minimum cumulative score of 77 or higher and

  • Score a 77 or higher on all of the language-related sections of the test.  

  • Applicants to the STCC Nursing Program can take the HESI exam a maximum of two times

NOTE: Candidates should indicate two (2) potential test dates on the registration form in case your first choice is full

Download and print the Registration Form for the HESI Exam

  1. Take the completed form to the Center for Business and Technology Office in the Scibelli Enterprise Center at the STCC Technology Park.

  2. Written confirmation of your exam date appointment will be mailed to you. (allow 1 - 2 weeks)

  3. Do not contact the College unless you have NOT received your written confirmation within one week of the first testing date that you requested.  call 413.755.4225. or Email

  4. Arrive at the Testing Center at least 15-20 minutes before the scheduled time. The Testing Center is located in Building 2, Room 303 on the Main Campus.

  5. Bring your confirmation Letter and a valid, government-issued picture ID.  (No Exceptions)
