Course Description
We all know we should be eating better but we don't. In
this class we will a take step-by-step approach to adding in healthy
foods to your diet. We will break it down so that it is not
overwhelming but manageable. Y our peers in the class will provide
support as you slowing integrate changes in your life.
We hear a lot of mixed messages about what is healthy from the news,
television, and magazines. In this class we will clarify what
is healthy and we'll discuss how to listen to your body and find out
which foods work best for you. We will learn about a variety
of foods you may not have noticed in the grocery store. Some of
these will include: kombucha, quinoa, shoyu, wakame, dinosaur kale.
You will learn why you should add these foods into your diet and how
to cook them so they are delicious. We will also cover how to eat
well without spending a fortune and you will receive support around
exercising and stress management so that you can prevent illness..
You will feel a huge difference in your body as you become
healthier. These changes may include an increase in energy and
happiness and a decrease in colds and headaches.
The class format will include: paired shares, group discussions, and
lectures. The environment will be non-judgmental and supportive.
Instructor Bio
This course is taught by Vanessa Burgos, M.Ed., a Holistic Health Coach and founder of Joy of Health. Vanessa received her Masters in Education from UMASS Amherst and her Holistic Health Certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She was brought up eating whole foods bya Macrobiotic mother and Acupuncturist father.
She has supported groups and individual clients to reach their health goals. Vanessa has lectured around the Valley on a variety of health topics. In addition she gives cooking classes and health food store tours. Clients enjoy her non-judgemental personality, supportive approach, and positive attitude.
